# HOW TO. Achieve Consistency?
Welcome friends.
The last post I published was about seven months ago. Far too long. It made me think. Why did it take such a long time? I could probably find many good excuses. Work was busy. Loads of things to do at home. Netflix. Bad weather. Whatever. Maybe it was the Resistance that finally took over ("the War of Art" by Steven Pressfield).
As a result, I felt out of habit and created a "publishing" backlog that I now want to get through. It made me realise that probably the single most important characteristics of them all is "consistency".
Completing your tasks and goals on a regular basis goes a long way. It creates a sense of accomplishment and removes the feeling of being overwhelmed by a large list of things still to be done.
In my defence, one of the reasons why I wasn't able to post too much is also because I felt that if I cannot reach the quality I want, then I am better off by not posting at all. I couldn't have been more wrong. It is more important to deliver on a regular basis even if it is only at 80% quality, than to not deliver at all. The quality will improve over time, and as we repeat certain task frequently, we get better at it. It is as simple as that.
The nice thing about the consistency is that it creates a routine and eventually develops a habit; and as Merriam-Webster dictionary put it, ultimately it leads to better performance.
A behaviour pattern acquired by frequent repetition or physiologic exposure that shows itself in regularity or increased facility of performance.
That is all good and well, but how do you create consistency? My approach will be to set regular time blocks every week where I do nothing else but update my website. I am certain that after a few weeks of such approach I will be in a habit of writing and it will become increasingly easier.
I will keep you posted.
Until next time
